Attorney General Dappula de Livera PC has directed acting Inspector General of Police in writing to take disciplinary action through the National Police Commission against the Western Province Senior DIG, the STF Commandant and National Intelligence Chief for dereliction of duties. The AG handed over two letters containing his legal advice on the two interim reports of the special Presidential Committee to probe the Easter Sunday attacks to acting IGP Chandana Wickramaratne.

President Maithripala Sirisena referred the two interim reports to the AG. Attorney General’s co-ordinating officer Nishara Jayaratne when inquired said the letter submitted to the acting IGP on May 7 had stated that the CID should be directed to conduct a criminal investigation against the former IGP.
The second letter dated May 14 handed over to the acting IGP had stated that the CID should be directed to conduct a full investigation against the former Defence Secretary, Chief of National Intelligence, the STF Commandant and the Western Province Senior DIG. The Attorney General has also requested the acting IGP to forward copies of the two investigation reports to him.
