Decisions taken at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on 25.10.2022
The Select Committee of Parliament to look into and report to Parliament its recommendations to ensure gender equity and equality with special emphasis on looking into gender based discriminations and violations of women’s rights in Sri Lanka held discussions regarding the progress of drafting the proposed Bill entitled “Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment” followed by a presentation to review findings on the implementation of the multi sectoral National Action Plan to address Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) 2016-2020.
Hon. (Dr.) Susil Premajayantha, Leader of the House stated on the recently, that there is no provision in the law to establish another national assembly similar to the Parliament and
that an attempt to do so would be a breach of parliamentary privilege.
During a coordinated search operation carried out by the Navy and Police in the beach area of Habaraduwa, Galle (23rd October 2022) 45 would-be illegal immigrants were apprehended, whilst they were remaining in a lodge in the area.
