President directs President’s Fund Secretary to clear applications backlog by December 31st

• Of the 11,000 applications received by the President’s Fund in 2022, work has been completed on 10,360.

• In 2022, Rs. 1,500 million has been paid as a medical aid.

• President Ranil Wickremesinghe issues instructions to carry out the work of the President's Fund more efficiently and comprehensively in 2023.

• Measures to increase the allowances paid as medical aid and to update the list of diseases for which medical aid is paid

Navy takes hold of smuggled stock of Kendu leaves in Kalpitiya sea area

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of a smuggled consignment of Kendu leaves weighing about 150 kg (wet weight), during a patrol carried out in Lunuwila sea area of Kalpitiya on 28th December 2022. The consignment was adrift in the sea area when it was spotted by the Navy.

Orientation programme for newly appointed Sri Lanka Heads of Mission

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted an orientation programme from 16 - 23 December, for fourteen (14) newly designated Heads of Sri Lanka Missions abroad and two (02) Heads of Post who were recently appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Those appointed are due to assume duties shortly.
