    The decision to convene the Parliament for five days from April 5 to April 9 was taken yesterday (25) at the Parliamentary Committee on Affairs chaired by Speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.

    Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Industries, pinpoints that countries like China, Vietnam, and South Korea are successfully coping with global economic crises owing to their high-tech industries and in order to attract such high-tech industries to Sri Lanka, the country requires human resources armed with such knowledge. Thus, enhancing the computer literacy of children could be the first step to achieve the said goals.

    The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that steps will be taken to provide rice at government prices to all supermarkets, Sathosa and cooperative outlets from April 1 for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

    The Minister of Highways, Johnston Fernando opened the first smart bus halt established near the HSBC Bank in Rajagiriya yesterday (25) which marked the commencement of the current government’s project to establish 3000 smart bus halts across the country under the President’s national policy framework “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”.
