Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the 24th Commander of the Army, just began his office paid courtesies to his predecessor, General Shavendra Silva who is now the Chief of Defence Staff for all three forces on Friday (3) at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff at BMICH premises.

Making his first formal visit upon assumption of office as the 24th Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage yesterday morning (2) paid a courtesy call on HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House.

The Chairman of the COPE, Hon. (Prof) Charitha Herath, recommended at the Committee meeting held that action be taken to resolve the drug shortage in the country as soon as possible using Indian credit loan assistance and other credit facilities.

The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) emphasizes that the Department of Probation and Child Care Services should expeditiously develop a National Policy on children in Sri Lanka and give proper guidance in this regard.
