The United Nations has declared May 20 as World Bee Day with the aim of promoting beekeeping around the world and to protect bee population. On the sidelines of this global event, Sri Lanka Navy introduced the 50th bee colony to the ‘Project Navy Bees’ run by Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 20th May 2021, with the objective of popularizing beekeeping.
The Parliamentary council decided to concur with the proposal of HE the President to appoint Sanjay Rajaratnam, PC, Solicitor General (Acting) as the Attorney General
upon the retirement of the incumbent Attorney General said Dhammika Dasanayake Secretary General of Parliament.
The Ministry of Health and the Information and Communication Technology Agency have taken steps to launch an online web service called "COVID-19 Citizen Portal" which provides an opportunity for the public to get an appointment to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in advance and issues a digital immunization certificate to those who have been
vaccinated.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
