Prevailing showery and cloudy conditions in south-western part will continue further.

Showers or Thundershowers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Central provinces.

Several spells of showers will occur in Western and North-Western provinces.

Fairly heavy falls about 75 mm can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershower may occur at a few places in Ampara, Badulla and Batticaloa districts after 2.00p.m.

Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected over Western, Southern, North-western and Northern provinces and Monaragala, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.

Marine weather

Due to active south-west monsoon, windy condition is expected to strengthen in the sea areas around the island in next few days (from today).

Showers or Thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

Winds will be south-westerly in direction in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 35-45 kmph.

Sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar and the sea area extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph at times.

Other sea areas can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
