Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Eastern province and in the Badulla District after 2.00 p.m.

Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces. Fairly heavy falls about 50 mm can be expected at some places particularly in Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kalutara District.

Light showers may occur in Northern and North-central provinces.

Fairly strong gusty winds up to 40-50 kmph can be expected in Hambantota, Monaragala, Ampara Matale, Polonnaruwa and Puttalam districts.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

Marine Weather

Light showers will occur in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

Winds will be westerly or south-westerly in direction in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph.

The sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Negombo, Galle and Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
