A special operation carried out by Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard in Samindugama on 13^th and 14^th May 2021 led to the apprehension of 30 persons whom were suspected to have attempted to illegally migrate to a foreign country by sea.

The Navy deployed 03 more relief teams in flood-prone areas in the Gampaha and Galle districts yesterday evening (14th May 2021) to rescue people affected by the floods and provide them flood relief, subsequent to the prevailing adverse weather.

The Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga stated that despite the travel restrictions imposed in the country, no decision has been taken to close the airport.

Sri Lanka Navy pre-deployed two teams of Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU) in the Bulathsinhala Divisional Secretariat in the Kalutara District (13th May 2021), in preparation of possible floods due to heavy rains in existence.
