Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Chairman MP Sunil Handunneththi stated that the Committee has decided to summon the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, the National Lotteries Board and Sri Lanka Cricket for the COPE Committee meetings during the next parliamentary sessions scheduled for the 18th19th20th of February 2020. The chairman stated the above addressing a press conference held at the Parliament complex. The Committee intends to take into discussion the Forensic Audit report issued by the Central Bank regarding the Treasury Bond Issuance as well as the verdict given in a foreign country in connection with the purchase of SriLankan’s Airbus.The chair further stated that it is his preview that the findings of the COPE Committee regarding the CBSL Treasury Bond Issuanceare substantiated by the report of the Presidential Commission and the Forensic Audit report. Meanwhile, MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna was unanimously re-appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) in Parliament yesterday (7). MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna’s name was proposed by MP Udaya Prabhath Gammanpila and was seconded by MP Chandima Weerakkody. He was the COPA Chairman prior to the prorogation of Parliament on December 2, 2019.Ministers Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi, Duminda Dissanayake and MPs Chandima Weerakkody, Udaya Prabhath Gammanpila, Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana, (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa and Wijepala Hettiarachchi were present at the Committee meeting held in Parliament yesterday.Meanwhile, JVP Parliamentarian Sunil Handunetti was re-appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) in Parliament yesterday. MP Sunil Handunetti’s name was proposed by MP Ajith P.Perera and was seconded by MP Ashok Abeysinghe. He was the COPE Chairman prior to the prorogation of Parliament on December 2, 2019.Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and MPs Ajith P. Perera, D.V.Chanaka, Ashok Abeysinghe, Dr. Harsha de Silva were present at the Committee meeting held at Parliament yesterday.
