    Following a special request by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on behalf of Sri Lankan medical students awaiting to return to China to complete their studies, State Councillorand Foreign Minister WANG Yi immediately instructed the Ambassador of China in Sri Lanka to work closely with the Foreign Ministry to facilitate the return of Sri Lankanmedical students.

    Trade and investment, political cooperation, defense initiatives, tourism and labour issues dominated the discussion in Seoul, Republic of Korea between Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-yong.

    Sri Lanka Navy coordinated the arrangements to bring ashore 05 fishermen, rescued by MV LGC Periklis (IMO 9796171), to the Galle Harbour. The fishermen were in distress as their multiday fishing trawler ‘Asela Putha II’ had capsized due to adverse weather in seas southwestern of Sri Lanka. Having transferred the fishermen ashore, the Navy rushed them to the Karapitiya Hospital, Galle for medical attention  (08th January 2022).
