The Minister of Parliament Reforms and Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake stated that during the year 2015, around 20 232 government sector field officers have been provided with motorcycles by the new government. He stated this yesterday (05) in Parliament in response to an oral question raised by UPFA MP Dullas Alahapperuma with regard to granting of motorcycles for the public sector employees on concessionary rate. In response to another question, the Minister said to the house that the Police Department had ordered 14,000 motorcycles this year and 13,000 out of them have been handed over to the Police officers while the other field officers were handed over 7,232 motorcycles up to October 29. Accordingly, a total number of 20, 232 motorcycles have been provided by the government, so far. Minister Karunathilake said that motorcycles have been issued only to those who have made the required payment by 31st December 2014..
