    January 02, 2015

Pakistan has lodged a strong protest over the unprovoked firing of the Indian troops in the Zafarwal Sector, resulting in the martyrdom of two personnel of Pakistani Rangers.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Wednesday to condemn the action of Indian Border Security Force troops.

Pakistan termed the incident as violation of the commitment by both sides to maintain ceasefire along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

The Indian government has been asked to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure maintenance of peace and tranquility along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

Earlier, two Chenab Rangers Jawans were martyred due to unprovoked firing by Indian Border Security Forces (BSF)  on Wednesday evening.

A Chenab Rangers spokesman told Radio Pakistan in Lahore that both jawans, namely Naik Riaz and Lance Naik Safdar got injured in the afternoon when they approached the Indian border regarding the Flag Meeting and later they succumbed to their injuries. (KH)
