    The Women Parliamentarian’s Caucus which met in Parliament recently under the chairmanship of Hon. (Dr.) Sudarshani Fernandopulle, took into discussion the proposal presented to the Committee with the objective of ensuring the rights and protection of Sri Lankan women as well as gender quality.

    Although the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill was supposed to be passed without a debate in Parliament (Sep-06), it was decided to hold the said debate on the coming Thursday as Members of Parliament indicated that a debate was necessary.

    The regulations enacted under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act No. 1 of 1969 in relation to allowing the import of glyphosate, which is used as a herbicide in the plantation sector, was approved by Parliament this morning (06) without debate.

    A committee has been appointed to review the Project Offices (POs) and Projectn Management Units (PMUs) established to implement or facilitate various projects and
    programs of the Government.
