The Committee on High Posts approved the appointment of four Secretaries to the Ministries and an Ambassador Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake said. Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe was among the Secretaries to the Ministries who received the approval at this Committee on High Posts chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The Hon. State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoners Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte emphasizing on the present congestion in prison given the rising numbers of inmates, stated that the government to reduce the number at least by 8000.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Sri Lanka, Juana Elena Ramos Rodriguez met Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on Friday, 04 December at the Foreign Ministry. The meeting entailed discussion, inter alia, on potential areas of cooperation, including in the pharmaceutical and sugar cane industries, where Sri Lanka would benefit from Cuban expertise and technical assistance; and ongoing collaboration in the development of the coconut industry in Cuba through technical cooperation with Sri Lanka.
