    In a symphony of festive splendour, Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council, in collaboration with the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and the Navy Band, orchestrated the Navy Christmas Carols 2023 at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall, Welisara, on the 22nd of December 2023, under the theme "Silent Christmas, Silent Navy". At the invitation of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the event was held under the patronage of the Secretary of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and his spouse, as the Chief Guests. In addition the occasion was dignified with the presence of  invited guests including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva and his spouse, as well as the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and his spouse. 

    Several spells of showers will occur in Northern and Eastern provinces and a few showers will occur in North-central province.

    The Indonesian Naval Ship KRI DIPONEGORO- 365 which made a port call in Colombo on 21st December 2023, departed the island today (23rd December) on successful completion of her visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with time-honored naval traditions, at the port of Colombo.

    The Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara, highlighted the significant improvement in the country’s foreign reserves under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. According to Minister Nanayakkara, the foreign reserve was depleted when the current government assumed office, but it has successfully rebounded, reaching a noteworthy USD 3.6 billion.
