An International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission led by Senior Mission Chief Mr. Peter Breuer visited Sri Lanka from July 25 to August 2, 2024, to discuss recent macroeconomic developments and progress in implementing economic and financial policies under Sri Lanka’s economic reform program supported by the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement.

The Indian Navy submarine INS Shalki which arrived in Colombo on 02nd August 2024, departed the island yesterday on successful completion of its formal visit.
Showers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere in the island during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showersabove 50 mm are likely at some places.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe acknowledged the need for a permanent solution to the ethnic issue.
