    Decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting held on 14.01.2019 Featured

    January 16, 2019

    1.         Rapid Economic and Social Empowerment and Infrastructure Projects in Northern and Eastern Provinces  (Document No. 06)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal presented by Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training and Skills Development and Youth Affairs to  secure Rs. 2,000 million for the implementation of proposed special project to develop Northern and Eastern provinces through enhancing economic infrastructure and social infrastructure and to provide livelihood relief.

    2.         Six Memorandums of Understanding between Sri Lanka and Philippine.

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposals presented with respect to following six Agreements.

    Memorandum of Understanding for partnership in the field of Tourism (Document No 07)

    Proponent is Hon. John Amaratunga, Minister of Tourism Development, Wild Life and Christian Religious Affairs.

     

    Development of  the .partnership in the field of Foreign Employment. (Document No 68)

    Proponent is Hon. Hareen Fernando, Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports

     

    Memorandum of Understanding regarding the partnership in the field of Higher Education (Document No 69)  Proponent is Hon Rauff Hakeem, Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education.

     

    Enter into a Memorandum of Understanding covering  Agricultural and related fields(Document No 70). Proponent is Hon. P. Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs,  Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.

     

    Providing facilities for Researchers in National Agricultural Research System   to follow Overseas Post Graduate Degree Courses.(Document No. 71). Proponent is Hon. P. Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs,  Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.

     

    Improve Partnership between both countries in the field of  Defence. (Document No. 73) Proponent is Hon. P. Harrison, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs,  Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.

     

    3.          Enhancement of Health Care Facilities in Killinochchi and Vavuniya District General Hospitals and Point Peduru and Mankulam Base Hospitals. (Document No 09)

    Estimated cost of this project is Euro 54.45 Million. Netherland Government has agreed to provided 75% of this amount as a loan through ING Bank NV  and the rest 25%  as a donation. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to   implement this project through the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine with the assistance of Northern Provincial Council. 

    4.         Project  to  introduce a Home Dialysis System  using Automated Peritoneal Dialysis for Kidney Patients (Document No.18)

    The Cabinet of Ministers considered the Parliamentary Sub Committee report presented by Hon. Rajitha Senarathna Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine. The Parliamentary subcommittee has  recommended to appoint Technical and  Negotiation Committees and  to implement a pilot project with respect to 500 patients in affected areas.

     

    5.         Development of Ambalangoda Polwtta Aurvedic Hospital (Document No 15)

    Ambalangoda Polwatta Aurvedic Hospital is proposed to be developed in four phases and the first phase is being accomplished now. Constructions of the first and second floors will be implemented as the second and third phases and the third floor as the fourth phase. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.Rajitha Senarathna , Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine to secure funds to implement this project.

    6.         Development of Haldummulla Herbal Garden (Document No.16)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.Rajitha Senarathna , Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine to employ a project with the purpose of expanding the activities of Haldummulla Herbal Garden with Rs. 33.4 million investment.

    7.         Development of Jaffna Town Hall. (Document No. 20))

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development to build Jaffna Town Hall within 2019-2023 period under Rs. 2,350 million cost.

    8.         Procurement of  Uniforms and other Textiles types for Tri Force, Civil Security Department Sri Lanka Police and Special Tasks Force (Document No 26)

     The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by H.E. the President Maithreepala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defence to procure uniforms and other textiles types for tri force, civil security department Sri Lanka police and special tasks force  from Local Producers for Rs. 1,596.4 million.

    9.          Renovation of Vocational Training Centres in Gampaha and Colomnbo (Document No.30)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal presented by Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training and Skills Development and Youth Affairs to amend the proposed machinery list considering new technological changes and the upgrading of said vocational training centres.

    10.      Procurement for laying water distributing pipelines and Main Transmission Pipe in Attanagalla area under Gampaha, Attanagalla and Minuwangoda combined Water Supply Project (Document No. 32)

      The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.  Rauff Hakeem Minister of City Planning, Water supply and Higher Education to award the contract of building  1,500 m3 Water Tower and  Main Transmission and Distributing Pipe  accessories and laying pipelines to M/s  Sierra Construction Limited and K.D.A. Weerasinghe Co. (Pvt) Ltd Co joint venture upon the recommendation of standing procurement committee appointed by the cabinet of ministers..

     

    11.     Procurement for building 1,500m3 Water Tower, Laying Pipelines and for Accessories of Transmission and Distribution System.

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.  Rauff Hakeem Minister of City Planning, Water supply and Higher Education to award the contract of building  1,500 m3 Water Tower, Laying Pipelines and for Accessories of Transmission and Distribution System to M/s Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd upon the recommendation of standing procurement committee appointed by the cabinet of ministers.

     

    12.     Establishment of Electro Image Conservation System  and Radiation Information System in 20 Government Hospitals. ( Document No. 35)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.Rajitha Senarathna, Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine to award  the contract of setting up  Electro Image Conservation System  and Radiation Information System in 20 Government Hospitals to M/s REDtone MEX sdn Bhd upon the recommendation of Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee.

     

    13.      Construction of Beruwala Base Hospital Main Building. (Phase 1) (Document No. 38)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon.Rajitha Senarathna, Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine to award  the contract for the foundation of 9 story building to M/s Access Engineering PLC for Rs.355 million, upon the recommendation of standing procurement committee appointed by the cabinet of ministers.

     

    14.     Construction of a Auditorium for Gall District Secretariat (Document NO.39)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Wajira Abeywardhana, Minister of Internal & Home Affairs  and Provincial Councils & Local Government to award the contract for the construction of a new auditorium consist of 2000 seats to Sunken Constructions Pvt. Ltd. for Rs. 2,656.87 million Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.

    15.      Selling Mineral Sands produced by Lanka Mineral Sands Company (Document No. 40)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Rishard Bdurdeen Minister of Industries and Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced persons and Cooperative Development to award the tender for selling  mineral sands produced by Lanka Minerals Company in accordance with the recommendations of Cabinet appointed Tender and Technical Evaluation Committees.

    16.       Development of Jaffna Urban Park and 10 Adjoining Parks. (Document No 41)

    The  Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka , Minister of Megapolis and  Western Development to award the consulting Contract of the above project to Urban Development Authority.

     

    17.      Mixed Development Project in Battaramulla Junction of Kaduwela Road (Document No. 42)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka , Minister of Megapolis and  Western Development to transfer a 415 perches Land owned  by Urban Development Authority to M/s Acer Projects Limited on lease basis for a Mixed Development Project combined to proposed Multi Model Transport Hub in Battaramulla.  

    18.      Ramming Activities for the construction of Sri Jayawardhanapura Nursing Faculty (Document No. 47)

    Ramming activities of said 22 story building is proposed to award in three packages and the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing, Constructions and Cultural Affairs to award Package 1 and 2 to Nawaloka Piling Pvt Ltd for Rs. 124.8 and Rs.137.5 respectively and Package 3 to  D.J.Jaysinghe Piling Pvt Ltd for Rs. 126 million.

     

    19.      Naming the Thripitaka as a World Heritage (Document No 76)

    The Cabinet of Ministers Approved the proposal presented by H.E. the president Maithreepala Sirisena, to present a proposal to the parliament  regarding the necessary steps to name the Thripitaka as a World Heritage.
