Nine more persons have tested positive for coronavirus

The government has taken a decision to stop all passengers arriving in the country from midnight tomorrow (18), said the Head of the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID- 19 Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva.

With the detection of six more Covid-19 infected cases today, the total number infected by the Coronavirus has risen to 34, said Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

Issuing a statement the Election Commission said that although the time given for postal voting applications ends at midnight today (17), taking into consideration the government declared special holidays on 17, 18 and 19 March, the applications which are received during the next few days would be regarded as those received prior to the deadline (March 17th ).
