Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and a group of officials made an observation tour to look into the progress of development.

Minister de Silva said that measures would be taken to establish a training academy for Pilots at the Airport. The Road Development Authority is renovating the Runway of the Batticaloa Internal Airport.

The Terminal building is being constructed under the supervision of the Airport. 1,300 million rupees will be spent for renovations of the Runway and 19 million rupees to build the Passenger Terminal building. All constructions are expected to be completed by the 15th of December.
