The Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government has identified 79 local government bodies under a programme to develop selected under developed local government bodies.
The Ministry in a press release said it has identified 335 under-developed local government bodies that generate less than 1 million rupees annually.
According to the press release, local government bodies of Hambantota, Neluwa, Mihinthalaya, Udumbara, Damana, Padiyathalawa, Uhana, Karuwalagasweva and several bodies of the North and Eastern provinces are among those which generate less than 1 million rupees in revenue.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
