The Galle District Agricultural Committee met yesterday under the auspices of Acting District Secretary Malani Loku Pothagama. During the discussion special attention was made to the cultivation of pineapples in Habaraduwa area. Also the progress of training programmes that have commenced in the district for cinnamon cultivators as well as on Beekeeping and Mushroom cultivation.
A special programme with regard to preventing and controlling foot and mouth disease of cattle is also being implemented by the Agrarian Services Unit. It was also revealed that the District's Aquaculture Unit has made arrangements to implement a project to release 300,000 fish fingerlings to the Koggala Lagoon.
