The Anuradhapura District was the most affected area as a result of the heavy rains since Monday night. The wall of the Eppawala tank located in Eppawala, Anuradhapura had broken off at around 04:30 on Tuesday morning. This has resulted in a standstill in vehicular movement in the area.Our correspondent said that a number of low lying areas in region have been inundated.

All six spill gates of the Nachchaduwa Tank in Anuradhapura have been opened as a result of the continuous rainfall. 16 of the 30 spill gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir have also been opened.
