Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.that the objective of establishing the University College is to provide a better technology education for those who complete school education. He emphasised that Sri Lanka's education system should be changed to cater to the needs of the society, job market as well as the needs of the era.

The Minister made these observations during a visit to the construction site of the Batangala University College, recently.

The Minister said that the students who sat for the GCE Advanced Level this year are eligible to apply for this University College and that newspaper advertisements will appear next month calling for applications to enroll students.

It is planned to complete construction work by January 31 next year and the government has already ordered equipment for the university college.
