State Minister of Defence together with the Secretary, tri-forces' commanders, representatives of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education laid the foundation stone at the auspicious moment amidst the Chanting of Pirith by the Venerable Maha Sangha.

A 4 storied hostel building is to be constructed at the premises of the 6th Engineer Services Regiment located opposite the DSC. Once completed, the new building will accommodate 554 students. The project is expected to be completed in October 2017.

Among those present on the occasion were Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, the school's Principal Ms.Dhammika Jayanetti, school staff and a large number of students.
