The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva, senior naval officers attached to Naval Headquarters and a large number of naval personnel and their family members attended the event where religious blessings were invoked on the heroic naval personnel who were killed in action while safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

The relic casket was taken in a colourful procession and the alms were offered to 65 Buddhist monks. The family members of the naval personnel who paid the supreme sacrifice were also invited to participate in the religious ceremony.
