Mr Hussain Inoki is visiting Sri Lanka on the invitation of world’s oldest Buddhist Missionary Society, Mahabodhi Society Sri Lanka, which was Founded in 1891 by Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner said that sports play an important role in physical and mental growth of the youth. He lauded efforts of Mr. Inoki to revive free-style wrestling in the region.

Mr. Inoki, a former member of Japan's parliament, expressed his gratitude towards Pakistani people and said that Pakistani people are peace loving and warm hearted. He expressed his willingness to open a wrestling school in Lahore to revive long-faded forms of wrestling.

He also informed the High Commissioner about his meeting with Pakistan’s Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai.

The 6.4 feet Yokohama native, Muhammad Hussain Inoki, started his professional wrestling career at the age of 17 from the Japanese Wrestling Association. From the years 1966 to 1972, Inoki kept switching professional wrestling careers from Japan to United States and finally joined the New Japan Pro Wrestling. Inoki, who once competed against Muhammad Ali Clay, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Pakistan’s Jhara Pehalwaan and Ric "Nature Boy" Flair, has been rated as one of the few free style wrestles who have not confined themselves to only one form of wrestling.
