Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces. Thundershowers will develop at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m., the Met Dept. forecasts.
North-east monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills. There may be temporarily localized strong winds during thundershowers., the Met Dept. also said.
General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
