The education sector has been affected up to a certain extent by the scarcity of teachers, principals and Education Administrative Service officers. "Therefore,all these vacancies will be filled with suitable persons with immediate effect," Minister Kariyawasam said. Under this process, 431 new teachers were appointed to the teacher service recently by the Minister. Of this number, 200 are Information Technology, 70 Western Music and 161 teachers for various subjects passed out from the Colleges of Education.
