    SLAF Opens Secondary School in Katunayake

    A secondary school inclusive of modern amenities was declared open by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Base in Katunayaka yesterday (04th Monday, January 2016).

    The project was initiated with a view of providing high quality secondary education for the children of families those who reside in the SLAF Base Katunayake premises. Accordingly, children of neighboring base would also be benefitted with the facility.

     

    Since its inception in 20th May 1961 as a government secondary school, Sri Lanka Air Force School has produced number of brilliant students to the nation, and afterwards reverted to a Primary School in 1970. Presently the school is functioning with over 103 students and 07 teachers including the Principal.

     

    Director Civil Engineering Air Vice Marshal Ranil Gurusinghe, Director Welfare Air Vice Marshal Lal Perera, Base commander of SLAF Base Katunayake Air Commodore Sudarshana Pathirana, representatives of Education Department, Officers, other ranks, parents and students were present at the opening ceremony.
