    Steps to regulate private medical institutions

    The Private Health Services Regulatory Council has taken steps to regulate private medical institutions and consultation. According to regulations, a consultant should spent at least 10 minutes on a patient, a Private Health Services Regulatory Council official said.

    Consultation charges levied by private medical institutions will also be limited.

     

    Charges for consultation by a consultant or a specialist doctor will be between Rs. 250 and Rs.2,000.

     

    Private hospital fee for consultation should be between Rs.100 and Rs.500. The council said a private hospital should display consultation charges.
