Special training for VIP vehicle drivers

    January 15, 2016

Today, accidents have become a national calamity. Therefor, the Motor Traffic Commissioner's Department has launched a programme to provide a special training to drivers of VIP vehicles to ensure those drivers set an example to other road users by observing road rules to the letter.

Drivers of VIP vehicles especially should drive their vehicles in keeping with road discipline without trying to display the power of their VIP bosses. Very often certain police officers who enforce the law were seen riding motorcycles without wearing helmets. Such actions highlighted in the media would debase the honour and prestige of law enforcement officers, Ministry said.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation revealed that according to the gazette notification dated 06-03-2014 all commuter service drivers should undergo a special driving training. There were more than 35,000 such drivers and all could not be given training at once. Therefore the training will be provided in stages. Thereafter specialised training would be made compulsory for the issuing of commuter transport licenses, Ministry added.
