    Army conducts medical clinics

    Sri Lanka Army conducted a medical clinic in the Hambantota region recently. The clinics were conducted by the troops serving under Security Force Headquarters -Central (SFHQ- C) at the Lunugamvehera Maha Vidyalaya and Sooriyawewa National College in Hambantota.

    The team of 16 medical specialists and nursing staff headed by Dr Mrs Anula Wijesundera treated 662 civilians for various ailments during the clinic. Medicine worth Rs. 700,000.00 was also issued for the patients during the two day medical camp.

     

    In addition 43 visually impaired people were provided with spectacle while a stock of school uniforms and books were distributed among needy children in the area. Troops conducted the medical programme with the assistance of 'Jayagrahanaya' (Success - Colombo) organization.

     

    The medical clinic was conducted under the coordination of Major General G. R. H. Dias, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 12 Division. Troops of the 10 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW), 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) were involved in carrying out the programme.
