Addressing a press briefing in Colombo yesterday, the Minister said that a five-member committee appointed by him to look into the appeals from the public and political parties on the shortcomings in the National Delimitation Commission report will submit its report in mid-April and the gazette notification will be issued after that.
According to the Minister, about 1,800 appeals and suggestions were received from main political parties with regard to the boundary definitions. The President has instructed the relevant officials to make appropriate boundary definitions taking the appeals in to consideration, the Minister said.
He added that the government has no intention of holding the LG polls under the previous system.
