This international conference, held for the first time in Sri Lanka is organized by the Center for Research on Indian Ocean Marine Mammals (CRIOMM) and the Our Nation and the Sea Initiative (ONS) with the Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Marine Affairs Co-operation (IOMAC) and it will be participated by the specialists in the field and the institutions of protecting whales.
This conference will broadly discuss on investigating the bio diversity of the ocean, protecting the marine mammals including whales, carrying researches for making a sustainable program on ensuring the environmental health of the ocean and forming a promotional program for whale tourism, said the General Secretary of the IOMAC and convenor of the CRIOMM Dr.Hiran Jayawardene.
