President Sirisena was warmly received by the hospital staff, including the hospital Director when he arrived at the hospital premises.
The President also commended on the service rendered by the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital during the past 31 years for the citizens of this country and he extended his best wishes to the staff of the hospital for their continued success in the service for the nation.
President Sirisena pledged to provide every possible assistance as a government to fulfill shortages at the hospital.
The President presented awards of appreciation to the members of the hospital staff , who completed 25 years of service.
He also launched the official website of the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital at this event.
The Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital is a gift from the government of Japan. The hospital was declared opened in 17th September, by the J R Jayawardena, the first Executive President of Sri Lanka and the Japanese Assistant Foreign Minister Hashimath Kigatawa.
At present, the hospital is fully equipped with the most modern and advanced medical equipment and renders a great service for the people of this country.
Health and Indigenous Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Minister of Justic, Wijedasa Rajapaksa, Chairman of Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital Doctor Athula Kahandaliyanage and the Director of the hospital Doctor Susitha Senarathne also participated in this occasion.
