Visiting ADB President to meet President Rajapaksa

    June 17, 2014

The President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Takehiko Nakao, on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka from 17-19 June will meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday (18) and will make a visit to Colombo port.

He will meet with Government and Central Bank officials today.

He is expected to visit the Habarana Maha Vidyalaya of which infrastructure facilities were upgraded with ADB funds under the Education for Knowledge Society Project. The objective of the project is to improve quality, relevance, management, effectiveness and equity of access to secondary and tertiary education and training programs, in particular, in rural and disadvantaged locations. The Project is in line with the Government's ten year development plan (2006-2015) that calls for an education system that will provide the technological skills required for a knowledge-based society to underpin rapid economic and social development.
