Parallel to the anniversary celebrations, the newly built Jathika Namal Uyana “Weerasinghe Buddhist Monastery” in Thulhiriya, Alawwa will be declared open on 5th March at 4.30 p.m. under the patronage of the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
Venerable Maha Sangha, Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijayadasa Rajapakshe and the State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardhane are scheduled to take part in the opening.
Jathika Namal Uyana in Sri Lanka is the largest Ironwood Forest and Pink Quartz Mountain in Asia, which is extended over 260 acres. The pink quartz mountain has a history of more than 550 millions of years was brought to the international attention by Venerable Wanawasi Rahula Thera.
