This one day summit will serve to address some of the most pertinent investment issues for corporations looking to invest across the continent and for Sri Lankan companies looking to fundraise in Asia. The inaugural event presented by FinanceAsia, will be positioned to showcase and highlight the country to potential investors from across the globe.
Sri Lanka is riding the crest of a wave with a business and investment friendly government and a huge need for inbound investment, both portfolio and direct and the summit will cover everything foreign investors need to know in order to avoid the pitfalls of a frontier market, the organizers say.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake will deliver the keynote address at the Sri Lanka Investment Summit. Guest speakers include Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and the summit will comprise panel discussions with private sector CEOs as well as representatives from institutions such as IFC, ADB and leading economists and industry leaders.
Past investors will also provide insights on how to make the most of this opportunity and what steps should be taken to engage in enterprise in Sri Lanka.
Standard Chartered is the lead sponsor of the Sri Lanka Investment Summit. The Summit has already attracted some 200 registrations.
"Sri Lanka is advantageously positioned right now for business enterprise with an investment friendly government, excellent growth potential, and a growing appetite for inbound business projects," Jim McCabe, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Sri Lanka, who was instrumental in initiating the event with FinanceAsia, said.
