    More drug addicts in Kurunegala

    People in Kurunegala were reported to have spent over Rs. 60 billion on alcohol and narcotics and on treatments related to diseases resulting from addiction to them during 2015, Presidential Task Force for Drug Prevention Director Samantha Kumara Kithalawarachchi said.

     

    He made this observation addressing an awareness programme on Drug Prevention at the Kurunegala District Secretariat recently.

     

    Kithalawarachchi said people in Kurunegala have spent around Rs.18 billion for alcohol and Rs.4,500 million to treat diseases related to alcohol and narcotics.

     

    The director said people in Kurunegala had spent Rs.18 billion on Alcohol and Rs. 3.5 billion on cigarettes.
