    Sri Lankan business delegation to attend TeXpo 2016 in Pakistan

    A business delegation led by the Sri Lanka - Pakistan Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will visit Pakistan from April 6-9 to explore trade and investment opportunities.

    During the visit, the nine-member delegation, led by the Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen, will also take part in the Textile sector specific exhibition 'TeXpo 2016' which will be held at the Karachi Expo Centre.


    The Sri Lankan businessmen are also expected to hold B2B meetings with their Pakistani counterparts.


    An MOU will be signed between the Sri Lanka - Pakistan Business Council and the Pakistan - Sri Lanka Business Council to enhance trade and investment between the two nations.


    The President of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Business Council Rohitha Thilakaratne will lead the delegation and Cherryl Rodrigo, Assistant Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will accompany the business delegates on behalf of the Chamber Secretariat.


    The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has not shown promising growth despite the existence of the FTA since June, 2005. At present, the volume of trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is US$ 350 million, which the two countries want to increase to US$ 1 billion by expanding its scope.
