Oluvil Harbour will be transformed into a Significant Economic Centre by redeveloping it, Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed.
The Oluvil Harbour was set up with the aim of developing eastern economy. But, it was affected by a number reasons. By developing this harbour, it will be upgraded to international standards in the future.
Permanent initiatives will also be taken to conserve the harbour from soil erosion.
An industrial zone will be set up in the area to provide jobs for unemployed youths with the collaboration of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka.
