    Two Japanese naval ships arrive at the Port of Colombo

    Two Japanese naval ships, "Uraga" and "Takashimayaeyama", arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill and replenishment visit on 11th May 2016. They were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.

    The Commander of the 51st Minesweeper Division, Captain Toshihiro Takaiwa, the Commanding Officers of the Ships, Commander Shunichiro Kachi and Lieutenant Masanori Nakai paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo. They held cordial discussions on matters of mutual interest and bilateral importance. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion. The Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, Captain Mototsugu Shigekawa was also, present on the occasion.


    Prior to their departure on 14th May, the crew of visiting Japanese Ships is due to take part in a friendly Baseball match organized by the Sri Lanka Navy in view of strengthening the friendship and camaraderie.
