Meanwhile the depression in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression and now located about 500km North of Kankasanturai and moving away from the island.

Strong windy conditions over the country and in the sea areas around the island will continue during next few days. Showers or thunder showers will occur at times in North-Western, Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Anuradhapura, Hambantota, Matara and Mannar districts.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and the public requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
