    Ministry of Transport engaged in relief measures

    Sri Lanka Transport Board employees has expressed their willingness to offer a one-day salary share for the relief measures for the flood victims.

     

    According to the sources, the circular regarding this action has already been issued.

     

    Meanwhile, the Department of Railway following the instructions of the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, has initiated a special program to provide free of charge transport facilities for the government and non-governmental organizations to easily transport their donations for the flood affected areas. According to the Ministry sources the relevant circulars have already been sent to the Station Masters of all the main railway stations.

     

    Ministry has further organized several relief programs for the flood victims with the assistance of the ministry-related welfare societies.
