The event was held yesterday (23rd May) at the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media premises under the patronage of the Minister Gayantha Karunathilake and the Minister Anura Priyadarshane Yapa.
The fund has jointly been initiated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media, Lake House, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, and Dialog mobile.
According to the Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake, the fund has been received about Rs.35 million within two days and is expected improve up to Rs.100 million as soon as possible.
The fund also expects to provide educational equipment to the school students and to provide facilities for around 3,000 self-employees in the flood-hit areas.
