The grand finale of the competition to select the Mahaweli Maha Goviya and the best Mahaweli Farmer organization will be held on August 11 at the Mahaweli Buddhi Mandapaya Embilipitiya. President Maithripa Sirisena will be the chief Guest.
In parallel to the national program on food production, this competition was started to stress the importance of organic farming and efficient water management to the farmers in the Mahaweli zones.
In addition to the first three places six consolation prizes will be awarded in both categories. In addition all winners will get the opportunity for an overseas study tour on the use of organic manure and water management.
