Filaria is not rapidly spreading in the countryand Sri Lanka has received the certificate of filarial free country, said Health Minister Rajitha Senarathne.
He was answering a question for oral answers by the UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana yesterday at Parliament.
Minister didn’t accept the statement thatthe government’s contribution towards eliminating the disease was not enough and added that only 661 filaria victims were reported from Sri Lanka during the last five years.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
