    October 21, 2016

The export income of Sri Lankan boats is anticipated to exceed 100 million USD this year due to the rising demand and international recognition enjoyed by Sri Lankan boats, said Minister of Fisheries and Aquatice Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera.

Apart from the fishing boats Sri Lanka manufactures multiple types of boats such as recreational, passenger transportation, life guard, coastal guard and fast attack boats and crafts.

Minister further mentioned that recently Sri Lanka has been hugely profited from boat exports. In 2015 the boat export income was 80 million USD and the amount will be exceeding 100 million USD this year.

Sri Lanka has ventured in to industrial exports and the government will be fully supporting boat manufacturing and exports since the industry is showing enormous potentials in a context of boats being used for multiple purposes worldwide.
