This semi express train leaves from Colombo Fort on Fridays at 2.20 p.m. and scheduled to arrive at Matale at 7.13 p.m. It will stop at all the main stations from Colombo Fort to Matale. The train, which provides transport facility for 296 passengers is comprised with one second class compartment and four third class compartments.
It will return from Matale to Colombo Fort on every Saturday at 6.40a.m. and will arrive at 11.15 a.m. According to the Sri Lanka Railway, this is the first weekend direct train leaving for Matale from Colombo Fort.
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva, Deputy Minister Ashok Abeysinghe, MP Ranjith Aluwihare, and the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railway B.A.P. Ariyarathne participated at this event.
